Three Paintings, One Exhibition at the Sault Area Art Center
As an artist, every exhibition carries a sense of excitement. It’s even more exciting when you have more than one piece selected to put on display. I’m very thankful to announce that three of my paintings—Still Standing, Smallmouth Bass, and Pictured Rocks—have been juried into the 2025 Artist’s Choice Exhibition at the Sault Area Art Center in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The show runs from April 3rd to May 9th, 2025, with an opening reception on April 13th at 1 PM.
This exhibition allows artists to showcase their work in the medium and theme that they resonate with the most. These pieces each tell a different story, yet they all connect to my deep appreciation for Michigan’s natural beauty, its waters, and the quiet, timeless moments found in its landscapes.
A Closer Look at the Featured Paintings
Still Standing (24” x 30”, Acrylic)
This painting captures the Grand Island East Channel Lighthouse, a structure that has withstood time and nature’s forces. Weathered but resilient, the lighthouse represents strength, history, and perseverance—qualities I strive to embody in my own artistic and personal journey. The rich blues of Lake Superior contrast with the lush greenery of the island, creating a scene that feels both tranquil and powerful.
Smallmouth Bass (16” x 20”, Acrylic)
This piece dives below the surface, offering a glimpse into the hidden world beneath Michigan’s freshwater lakes and rivers. The play of light through the water, the pattern of the fish scales, and the vibrant greens of the aquatic plants bring a different kind of serenity—one that invites the viewer to pause and appreciate the quiet life thriving just below.
Pictured Rocks (10” x 10”, Acrylic)
Inspired by one of Michigan’s most iconic landmarks, this painting captures the stunning rock formations and the way light peeks through the archway. The blend of fluid art and brushwork gives the piece an organic feel, reflecting the ever-changing nature of water and stone.
